3 Years On

A major anniversary: 3 years ago, on 15th August 2003, I signed a career break agreement with my former employers, the Cosmo-Demonic Airline, before departing to Cumbria to write fiction. The agreement expires at midnight tonight. Like Jim Hawkins, wild horses could not drag me back there. Life in Cumbria is altogether too good to contemplate a return to Heathrow. So it's so long suckers . . . and good luck with sorting out the 10,000 short-shipped bags you're currently struggling to reunite with their owners.

Does this mean you're now free to write, caustically and sardonically, about your experiences at Cosmo-Demonic? Because that might be more pure entertainment than any novel .... ;-)

Trouble is that real life is usually much too far-fetched to make credible fiction!

Can we read some of your fiction? Or have I just read it?

Could the great dystopian novel about life in corporate Britian be the new 'Parkinsons Law'?

Irene - Apparently Lawrence Durrell once described fiction as 'reality re-organised to show the significant side'. In which case I can't help but reflect on this blog's complete insignificance. Though come to thiink of it having a commenter called Irene Adler certainly adds to the fictionality of this blog . . .

I'm thinking the back cover shot should be the one I took of you in Newcastle, outside NE Demento HQ?

A good choice, I can only think of one place better than Cumbria, and that's here out in the forest.......
