Up The Pole
I've just returned from the Highlands to find a 30-foot flagpole adorning the yard - unfortunately horizontal, not vertical, but it still looks jolly impressive. The gale-force winds lashing West Cumbria this Bank Holiday weekend mean that any attempt to get it into an upright position single-handed is probably doomed. So - Yes, you can now add to the Comments any jokes about 'not being able to get it up on his own' that you've been saving for just the right occasion. The Management will be back from South Africa later in the week so presumably we can look forward to an Erection Night Party . . .

A night time erection is indeed something to celebrate.............
Hmmm, what are you planning to fly on said pole? Should Franklin and I bring something from the states?
We have a very splendid Cumbrian flag (see previous posts). Whether anyone passing by on a galloping horse will recognise it as such is another matter
If you have just returned from the Highlands, the pole could just be a slim version of the magnificent game Tossing the Caber

For those wondering about the deleted comments above - the blog attracted a large amount of comment spam this evening, which I have deleted (see post 'Administrivia' above). By a strange quirk not one was offering pills to make your flagpole bigger longer thicker and more vertical. No sense of humour, spambots . .
