A Doctor Writes . . .

The latest from Channel 4 News - top doctors in 'Mount Everest really quite high' shocker. Apparently those attempting to climb in the Himayalas run some risk of finding themselves at high altitude. The last thing they could have anticipated . . .

The young people tell me that some years ago Mr McCartney was a crooner with a popular beat combo from the north of England. Did he go on to a second career as a mountaineering philosopher? I'd always assumed his use of the technical term 'high' was associated with his youthful enthusiasm for 'jazz cigarettes', a medication not generally indicated for altitude sickness . . .
