The all-conquering
Sidney Sussex College University Challenge Team had its annual reunion this weekend - a tradition that dates back all of three years, but one that has become deeply loved by all concerned. So (from left to right) John Gilmore, John Adams, David Lidington, myself & Steve Badsey, along with Helen Lidington, Jean Adams & Phylomena Badsey (all three sadly behind the camera) met at a rather swanky hotel near Leamington Spa on Saturday night to commemorate
the 2002 'Reunited' series. The evening was a joy - adrenalin recollected in serenity, to adapt a Cumbrian phrase - and one that I hope we will repeat for many years to come.
(Answers to FAQs: No, the questions haven't got any easier. And Paxman is really a pussy-cat).

All of similar height I note, unless some of you are standing on a box and others are kneeling. You could so easily be mistaken for a group from a dance troupe (or some other career where uniform height is important) enjoying a night off. And aren't you too numerous? I thought there were only four on a team.
perhaps a barbershop quintet? John Gilmore looks as if he's already started the singing.
In any case, you look very dashing in that suit.
And Phylomena is a fantastic name!

B - thank you, very kind. Unfortunately John Gilmore's singing is not something you'd wish to experience, as anyone who's heard his rendition of As Soon As This Pub Closes, The Revolution Starts will testify.
Irene - a dance troupe? Clearly we missed our calling in life. We could have been Chippendales . . . You are correct that there's only 4 in a UC team: our reserve Steve Badsey (organiser of the reunion, all-round Good Thing & secret weapon) is of course the 5th.
Oh my, Nick. If you can't get lucky wearing that outfit, then I just don't know what to say about women in Britain!
Eleanor, most kind: clearly this blog doesn't have a wide enough readership in Cumbria.
